Sculptra is an FDA approved injectable material that is injected into deep layers beneath the skin to smooth moderately deep lines and in areas of facial hollowing due to aging and fat loss (atrophy). As the body processes the material (L polylactic acid), the body produces collagen over a six week period, causing deep lines and hollows to plump and and reduce in appearance.
Scupltra treatments involve an initial one hour office visit for the injection. Patients will experience temporary swelling and redness at the injection site. Patients then return in six weeks for Dr. Verbin to confirm post-procedure results. A subsequent injection may be required to obtain the patient’s desired result. Each Sculptra treatment lasts approximately one and a half years.
